Scottish Trade Union Congress votes in favour of accepting asylum seekers as trade union members

This year’s Scottish Trade Union Congress saw a historic motion in support of asylum seekers. The delegates voted in favour for asylum seekers to be accepted as members of trade unions for further protection of their rights.

The motion was brought forward by the NUJ Scotland which successfully campaigns in support for its asylum seeking members.

The NUJ was the first union to accept asylum seekers as members. Now all trade unions are encouraged to accept and support asylum seekers.
