JCWI mobilizes for Parliament, 9 July 2012, London

Following the immigration rule changes announced by Home Secretary Theresa May on June 11th, the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants are stepping up their campaign and, in conjunction with Migrants Rights Network and others, are organizing a programme of activities in the Houses of Parliament on Monday July 9 2012, the day most of the new rules will be enforced.

The agenda will be as follows:
  • A protest near parliament at 4:30pm
  • Following the protest, there will be a time to speak directly to your MP about the issue
  • In the evening, Lord Judd will be hosting a meeting in the House of Lords where MPs, Lords and those affeted by the rule changes will be invited to speak, share their grievances and pool experiences

Anyone from Scotland planning to attend the protest should get in touch with their MPs as early as possible and arrange to meet them to present your views. You can check your MP’s email addresses here.

Or if you can’t go yourself, send your views to admin@migrantsrightsscotland.org.uk  and MRScotland’s Chair Pat Elsmie will present them for you.

As for the evening meeting hosted by Lord Judd, registration is free at http://familymigration.eventbrite.com/ . Book early!
